|Q1: The wireless camera system is connected to my TV input, but I cannot see the camera picture?
A1: Please locate the remote control of your TV and look for the input/VCR button. Press the input/VCR button once if the wireless camera receiver is plugged into input 1 and press twice if the wireless camera system is plugged into input 2 and so on. On some TV sets, the input can be found by first channel to channel 2, then down a channel once or twice to get to the correct input in which the wireless camera system is plugged to. Please reference the TV set user’s manual to get further instruction on the input selection.
|Q2: Can I connect a wireless camera system to a VCR or DVR to record?
A2: Yes, a wireless camera system can be connected to the input on the VCR/DVR to record. First, note what channel/input the TV is set on when playing video VHS tape from the VCR or when playing recorded video files from the DVR and set the TV to that channel/input. Next, know which input on the VCR or DVR the wireless camera system is plugged into, ie. Input 1, Input 2, etc. Then, reference the VCR or DVR user’s manual to find what channel the VCR or DVR has to be on to display the input, in this scenario, the input number in which the wireless camera system is connected to. In general, the input on the VCR or DVR can be found by channel to channel 2, then down channel once or twice. In the process of finding the right input, look for the camera picture to show on the TV output display. If it displays, then the VCR or DVR is ready to record.
|Q3: Why is there a horizontal line going through the display output of my TV?
A3: Adjust the antenna on the receiver carefully and/or location of both the camera and receiver for better receptions. Avoid setting both receiver and camera(s) on other electronic devices, metal objects, and away from magnetic shield devices such as refrigerators, microwave ovens, other 2.4MHz products, etc.
|Q4: Can other manufacturer camera(s) be used with the wireless receiver?
A4: Yes, other manufacturer cameras can be integrated with the wireless receiver. Make sure the camera(s) being integrated matches the frequency channel of the wireless receiver; channel 1 = 2414MHz, channel 2 = 2432MHz, channel 3 = 2450MHz, & channel 4 = 2468MHz.
|Q5: What are possible interferences that exist?
A5: 2.4GHz cordless phones, satellite dishes, and 2.4GHz wireless computer networks (Wi-Fi Router) are the top three products on the market today that seem to cause interference problems with wireless camera systems. Strong static interference, large horizontal lines rolling upward, an increased noise level, and an unsteady picture are all possible problems the wireless camera system can produce. Please refer to the other equipment manufacturers for exact frequency specifications. If the wireless camera is channel selectable (not all models), please try to change channels until an acceptable picture is displayed. When using multiple wireless cameras, make certain they are using different channel numbers and set them apart at least 2 meters (6.5 ft) from each other.
|Q6: What is the viewing range of the 2.4GHz wireless indoor/outdoor camera(s)?
A6: The industry term “Line of Sight” is a base measurement for range. Our 2.4GHz frequency line of sight maximum distance from the transmitter to the receiver is about 300 feet. However, the maximum range for an indoor situation is about 100 feet and depends on certain factors such as the thickness of a wall and the number of walls/stumbling blocks between the camera and receiver. A stumbling block can refer to human body, wood wall, cement wall, or metal wall, which represent weak, medium, and stronger possibilities of signal transmission.
|Q7: What does 4 channel selectable mean?
A7: It means being able to manually change the channel on the camera. Since other items that operate on the 2.4GHz wireless frequency such as cordless phones, satellite TV dishes, and wireless routers for computers produce a frequency in the same range, it is possible to adjust your picture quality by changing the dipswitch position on the camera (dipswitch feature is available on some camera models and not all). By changing the cameraâ€™s frequency and carefully adjusting the receiver antenna, interference can be minimized.
|Q8: How many more wireless cameras can I add?
A8: The Mini-AirWatch and OutdoorWatch receivers can handle up to a total of 4 cameras (can be mixed with SecurityMan indoor and outdoor wireless cameras). Be sure to use different channel numbers for each camera. Please use a receiver and 4 wireless cameras in one location.
|Q9: Can the wireless system connect to a PC and be monitor over the internet?
A9:No. The wireless indoor and outdoor camera system does not contain any software for pc connection (such as internet or remote monitoring capability). In order to connect this system to a pc, a DVR capture card or video recording card needs to be added on to the computer, providing input jacks. Please reference the add-on card instructions on how to hook up and operate.Q10: Can I connect the wireless system to my TV if there is only a coaxial input and not the required A/V inputs?A10: Yes, if your TV has only the coaxial inputs on the rear and not the A/V RCA style input jacks, you can still hook-up your receiver with the use of a coaxial to RCA converter (an RF Modulator). These are add-on devices that accept the coaxial cable from your TV and the A/V cables from the receiver as inputs, sending the signal to your TV. Then, turn on your TV, select channel 3, and adjust your cameraâ€™s viewing angle.
|Q11: Can I connect the wireless system onto a DVR to record?
A11: Yes. There are 2 options.(1) One channel recording: connect one wireless receiver to one of the video inputs of the DVR. If there are four wireless cameras connected to the receiver (loop mode must be on) the DVR will record the four cameras in a one by one sequence. It is then possible to review the recorded files in sequence or expand the picture to full screen using the DVR buttons.(2) Multiple channel recording: example, connect four wireless receivers (each receiver having a different frequency camera) into the DVRâ€™s four video inputs. All four cameras can then be recorded simultaneously and it is possible to review the files as a single camera display or as a quad display.
|Q12: Does a wireless camera still need a power adapter?
A12 Yes it does. A camera wireless camera would not be operable without some source of power to it. This source of power can come from either the AC outlet (using the adapter) or from a 9 volt battery.
|Q13: Is there anyway to extend the distance of video transmission for the wireless camera?
A13 No, due to FCC limitations on transmission power. It is possible to use a high powered booster (i.e. 1 watt, 5 watt, etc..) to extend the viewing range of the wireless camera system. Using a power booster for these purposes is illegal in the U.S.A. and restricted by the FCC.
|Q1: The LCD monitor is fully charged, but it does not turn on when I press the power button. Does it mean the monitor is defective?A1: There is a “Power Swtich” lcoated on the right side of the monitor; the switch can be easily overlooked before pressing on the power button on the monitor. Move the “Power Switch” to the ON position and then press the power button to turn on the monitor. THe power indicator LED light will turn green.
Q2: Can SecurityMan’s HomeDVR be integrated with PalmCam for recording in vehicle?
A2: Yes, PalmCam is compatible with HomeDVR recording system. However, HomeDVR does not come with a cigarette ligher adapter. You will need to purchase a cigarette lighter AC/DC converter or an inverter to power the HomeDVR recorder.
Q3: Can the caemra be fully submerged when docking my boat?
A3: No, the camera cannot be submerged under water because it is not waterproof.
|Q1: Is there a battery that can last more than 3 hours on the indoor camera?
A1:Yes, please use a brand new 9 volt battery. A new battery can last between 6-7 hours. The 9 volt battery provided in the original package is good for temporary applications such as finding the desired location or a temporary location for video surveillance need. The camera picture will then degrade when this battery begins to drain. Please note that the 9 volt battery will drain as long as it is connected to the camera, regardless of whether the receiver is on or off.Q2: Can the Mini-AirWatch be used outdoors?
A2:No. It is designed for indoor usage. For outdoor security applications please consider the OutdoorWatch (kit) or add-on outdoor wireless camera SM-823T, which is designed to withstand outdoor weather conditions and has a night vision capability.
Q3: How do I setup the camera stand?
|Q1: I have both SM-202T cameras connected at once, but only one can display an image, what is wrong?
A1:It’s possible that each SM-202T camera was set to the same frequency (ie. Ch.1 2,414Mhz). Make certain that one of the outdoor cameras is set to Ch.4 2,468Mhz. The channel 1 & 2 switches, adjustable for up to 4 frequency combinations, are located on the rounded thicker area underneath the rubber flap, near the cameraâ€™s own power jack. The other available Ch.2 & 3 can be used to improve image quality should interference or statics become present.Q2. Can I use a 9V alkaline battery to power on the SM-202T camera & stay completely wireless?
A2: No. The package does not include a 9V battery clip, & a 9V battery would not supply enough current to fully turn on the camera. For indoor use only, please consider the SecurityMan SM-BP3600 Lithium-Ion rechargeable battery, able to provide up to 18hrs of camera usage on a 3hr 15min charge time. The SM-BP3600 battery is not weatherproof, thus not designed for outdoor use.
